Well, as a couple people know, I applied to work at Cedar Point for "HalloWeekends"" as a screamster this year. I decided to drive up there to spend a couple days and have my interview since it was better to do it in person. The drive wasn't bad (the gas prices in Ohio were though!) and I made it out there no problem, and got to riding right away! I've been to the Point twice, but that was back during summers 2002 and 2003 so a lot has changed. On the 22nd, crowds weren't horrible, and the weather was nice-warm with a breeze! I got a decent amount of riding in before my interview and a little bit after-the weather went south about 7pm and it started to pour and tornado warnings went into effect. I went to ride Millennium, but sadly, was about an inch off getting the belt to close (really embarrassing, but it won't be a problem by next season) so I'll ride it again next year. That's still one of my top 2 favorites at the park. Mean Streak was next, it was fun, great airtime, but still really rough! Followed that up with a couple rides on "Gemini"-my favorite "fake" woodie (wood structure, steel tracks) and then Magnum XL-200. Magnum is a great ride! It's no Millennium Force-but what is? It does have some great features, a fairly smooth ride, and some great airtime on bunny hills towards the end of the ride. The tunnels add a nice effect too. I decided to grab a ride on Iron Dragon before heading to my interview-and I'll never ride it again! It's really gone downhill in the past few years, and it just isn't the ride it could be! It goes over the "lake" and there are some cool mist features and turns that would be fun if you didn't feel like the suspended car was going to fall off the track! After my interview I had time to fit in Disaster Transport-quite frankly, that ride needs to be updated-along with heading back to Maverick. I don't care what you have to do to get to Cedar Point, but you have to ride Maverick! It is an incredible ride! The lift hill is incredible-its so fast- and the first drop flies by but just leads to some great twists and turns and the launch through the tunnel is amazing! There is nothing to compare this ride to-truly one of a kind! I went back and rode Magnum a couple times and then the weather turned dark. I found my car right as it started to rain, and right when I got inside, it started to downpour-that's what I call lucky! The 23'rd was a shorter visit for sure. I rode Mantis-a great B&M standup which is worth a ride or two for sure-then I headed for another ride on Maverick-again worth the wait! I went to ride Magnum but it broke down while I was waiting in line, and I had to leave anyway. I missed a few big coasters, but I figured that I'll be living there in a month (until November at least) so I'll have plenty of time to ride then :-) I put a few pictures below!

I got the job!!!!! I'll be working in one of their fright zones "Terror Island" (undead pirates) and they do a parade with singing and dancing and stuff in the afternoons before the real scares begin, a kid-friendly parade, and I'm in that too!! I'm so excited!!! Thanks for asking!

Congrats on the job.
Try to shed some pounds before next season, so you don't have to worry about not being able to ride, anymore. It's going to take hard work and determination, but you can do it. It's a lifestyle change. I've been through it, and although I wasn't too big to fit on any rides, I was obese as as child and worked my way out of it. Now I'm in better shape than just about anyone I know.
Good luck.

Thanks! I've actually been loosing weight, so I know I'll be good by next year...It was a surprise because I can ride everything at Six Flags-but I'll be good by either later this season or next year at Cedar Point...Thanks :-) I actually leave this Sunday and process in to work as a cashier until 9/6 at CP and then I start HalloWeekends

So do they give you a place to stay while you work there? It sounds like a good opportunity for you to meet a lot of new people.

Yeah, there's housing for employees behind the park. I've heard that it sucks, but whatever.

They do! There are a couple of housing facilities that I'll get to choose from and a bus that will take you to and from work if you live at one off the peninsula. I live in Carbondale, IL now but my train leaves super early this Sunday morning (3:16am) and I'll cashier for a month then be a screamster :-) I'm looking forward to it!

Sounds like a good deal. Maybe you can give us the low down on what they are building. It's rumored to be a 300ft tall star flyer that holds 60+ people per cycle.
I'd love to go back to CP within the next few years. I loved Millenium Force, Maverick, Top Thrill, and Raptor most of all. Except we only rode Raptor once, because my girlfriend blacks out big time on inverts, and she doesn't enjoy that. We stayed at the Breakers hotel on the Island and loved every minute of it. That was four years ago when Maverick was new. CP needs to step it up, since that was their last new coaster. It looks like Magic Mountain is going to take the title, next year.
